Restarting your virtual desktop regularly is a great habit to get it into, as it keeps your virtual desktop working optimally and ensures that any recent patches complete their installation. Restarting is also a great way to quickly resolve issues you may be experiencing and should always be the first step before heading to Digital On Demand for support.

With recent changes to the Amazon WorkSpaces Client you can now restart your own virtual desktop directly, there's no need to go to a separate site and you should not raise a ticket to have a restart performed for you.

NOTES:

  • When a virtual desktop completes a restart, you will automatically be notified via email that your virtual desktop is now available for use. This email will be sent to any non-Pfizer email address specified in your GetAccess profile and a copy will also be sent to your Pfizer email. Typically, a restart will complete within 10 minutes but in some cases may take up to 20 minutes.
  • You can restart your virtual desktop during the log in process or once you have connected and the desktop is displayed.
